Success Lies in a Single Thought: The Choice Between Daydreaming and Action (1)
Are you, who are reading this article, also lost in the allure of daydreams, unable to extricate yourself?
In today’s world, everyone is thinking about how to plan and improve their future. We constantly ponder over what we should plan for as we journey through life.
Daydreams
Daydreaming is a captivating temptation. It lures us into imagining a wonderful future and feeling the joy of every moment. But in the end, aside from the joy that daydreaming brings, we gain nothing. It’s like my story—I daydreamed about how far I could go in life, how I could reach distant places, but when I opened my eyes, I was still the same as before.
Daydreams are beautiful, and because they are beautiful, we become intoxicated by them, unwilling to wake up. We constantly fantasize about our successful selves, but in reality, we take no action. We only dream about how we’ll get stronger by doing something, how others will admire us if we achieve something, how we should do something to improve ourselves.
We keep thinking... and dreaming about all sorts of wonderful things, but never take any action.
Why do we immerse ourselves in these beautiful daydreams? The answer is simple: Daydreams are like a comfort zone. Stepping out of this comfort zone means facing unknown risks and the possibility of failure. We are afraid—afraid of the unknown dangers and the risk of failure.
So, to avoid stepping out of this comfort zone, we convince ourselves that we shouldn't take action until we've come up with the perfect plan.
But we overlook one thing: Action equals growth. To grow, we must first take action, continuously learn from it, adjust our original plans accordingly, and then take the next step.
Success Lies in the Choice Between Daydreaming and Action
No matter how great your ideas are or how much you want to achieve your dreams, without action, it all remains daydreaming. To succeed, you must take action, turning your dreams into reality, stepping forward in life, learning from each step, and using the knowledge and experience gained to propel the next step forward. This way, success will not be far from you.
My Story
I was once like this too. When I realized that I needed to do something for my future, I kept searching for what exactly I needed to do.
To understand how far I had traveled on the road of life, I drew an X under my feet as a marker and closed my eyes, imagining a perfect plan in my mind, continuously upgrading the plan, and dreaming of the future after achieving these plans. When my daydreaming ended, I believed I had come a long way from the starting point. But when I opened my eyes and looked back, I didn’t see the endless horizon—I saw a wall at the starting point. And when I looked down, I found the marker I made was still at my feet. At that moment, I realized that despite all the time that had passed, I was still standing in the same place.
This behavior is easy to understand—it's called daydreaming.
Last Thoughts
Only action can break the stalemate. No matter how many ideas you have, without accompanying them with action, you will always remain in the same place.
